A person was convicted in a Court of Petty Sessions for an offence under Part IV. of the Police Offences Act 1890. At the trial evidence was given by a witness for the prosecution that another person had stated certain facts with regard to the accused. The person who made the statements was not called as a witness. The accused gave no evidence with regard to these statements.
